Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Pixel ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that turns screenshots into code using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the Extension processes, how it is handled, and your rights.
The short version: Your data stays on your device. Screenshots and code are sent directly to your chosen AI provider using your own API key. We never see, collect, or store your content.
1. Data we collect
We do not collect any personal data. The Extension operates entirely on your local device. Specifically:
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, telemetry, or any tracking scripts.
- No account required. You do not need to create an account to use the free tier.
- No server-side processing. There is no Pixel backend server. The Extension communicates directly with your chosen AI provider.
2. Data processed locally
The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.local):
- API keys — Your AI provider API keys (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini) are stored locally and never transmitted to us.
- Conversion history — Screenshots and generated code are saved in your browser's local storage for your convenience.
- Settings — Your preferences (language, selected provider, theme) are stored locally.
You can delete all locally stored data at any time by removing the Extension or clearing its storage via Chrome's extension settings.
3. Data sent to third parties
When you perform a conversion, the Extension sends the following data directly to your chosen AI provider:
- The captured screenshot image
- Extracted DOM structure from the captured area (for improved accuracy)
- Your prompt or instructions for the conversion
This data is sent using your own API key and is subject to the privacy policy of the AI provider you choose:
We have no access to the data you send to these providers and receive no copies of your requests or responses.
4. Payment processing
If you purchase the Pro tier ($14.99 lifetime), payment is processed by ExtensionPay (powered by Stripe). We receive confirmation of your purchase status but never see your payment details (credit card number, billing address, etc.). Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe under their privacy policy.
5. Permissions
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab — To capture screenshots of the current tab when you click "Capture".
- storage — To save your settings, API keys, and conversion history locally.
- sidePanel — To display the Extension's interface in Chrome's side panel.
- scripting — To inject the area-selection overlay when you choose a region capture.
No permissions are used to collect or transmit your browsing data.
6. Children's privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
